As chief security officer of Arcfield, Mike Smith oversees all aspects of security, including personnel security, physical security, information systems security, and program security. Mike and his team also ensure compliance with security regulations and provide education and awareness programs.

For more than two decades, Mike specialized in assessing and executing the technical and physical security plans necessary for safeguarding our nation’s most critical assets and sites. He describes his career of service in defending national security from the front line as a privilege, and the greatest honor that both he and his family could give to this country.

Prior to joining Arcfield, Mike spent 23 years serving our country in various roles of increasing responsibility at the United States Secret Service (USSS). Most recently, he served as the special agent in charge over the USSS’s Office of Protective Operations, where he led and enabled the global mission support requirements necessary for the agency’s thirty-three permanent protectees, as well as for US government hosted National Special Security Events.

During his tenure at the USSS, Mike served in a number of supervisory and leadership roles, to include assignments within the presidential and vice-presidential protective details, spanning over multiple administrations. He held multiple positions under the Security Management Division at USSS headquarters, including serving as the agency’s special security officer for all classified national security matters. Mike was the agency’s delegated member to the Department of Homeland Security’s Chief Security Officer Counsel, and a member of the Department of Homeland Security’s, Security Enterprise Advisory Group.

Prior to joining the USSS, Mike was a police officer in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for six years.

Mike received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from East Carolina University and completed the Key Executive Leadership Program for Senior Executive Service through American University.
